Skylab 5 TerrainStudio
Last updated: October 21, 2026
This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is a legal agreement between you ("you" or "Licensee") and Skylab 5 Creative Studios, Inc. ("Skylab 5," "we," or "us"), for the Skylab 5 TerrainStudio software and its accompanying documentation (the "Software"). By downloading, installing, activating, or using the Software, you agree to be bound by this Agreement. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.
Subject to this Agreement and to payment of any applicable fee, Skylab 5 grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software for your personal or commercial creative projects. The Software is licensed, not sold.
Each license key may be active on no more than two (2) computers at a time, for use by the person or entity that purchased it. You may move a license from one computer to another by releasing it in the Software (Settings > General > Move to Another Computer). The Software contacts Skylab 5's license provider to activate and periodically confirm your license; see the README for what is sent. Sharing a license key, or installing the Software across an organization under one key beyond the two-computer limit, is not permitted. Additional computers require additional licenses.
The Software, including its code, interface, documentation, and all intellectual property in it, is owned by Skylab 5 Creative Studios, Inc. and is protected by copyright and other laws. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. The images, models, and other files you create with the Software ("Outputs") are yours, subject to the rights of the third-party data providers described in Section 5.
You may not (a) redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent, lease, or lend the Software or a license key; (b) circumvent, disable, or interfere with license activation; (c) reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law or by the license of an open-source component (see THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt); or (d) remove or alter any proprietary notices.
The Software retrieves elevation, imagery, map, and vector data from third-party providers, including Mapbox, OpenTopography (Copernicus GLO-30, EU DTM, SRTM15+, GEBCO), Mapzen/Tilezen, GMRT, USGS (3DEP and NAIP), GPXZ, Copernicus Data Space (Sentinel), Microsoft Planetary Computer (Landsat), NASA GIBS, OpenStreetMap, OpenFreeMap, Natural Earth, and public 3D building surveys. That data is provided by those parties under their own terms, and some of it is accessed with your own accounts and API keys. YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING VALID ACCOUNTS AND CREDENTIALS, FOR YOUR USE OF ALL DATA AND OUTPUTS, AND FOR COMPLYING WITH EACH PROVIDER'S TERMS, INCLUDING ANY REQUIRED ATTRIBUTION. Skylab 5 does not grant you any rights in third-party data, and the availability of any provider may change or end without notice.
THE SOFTWARE AND ALL DATA AND OUTPUTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. ELEVATION, IMAGERY, AND MAP DATA MAY BE INACCURATE, INCOMPLETE, OR OUT OF DATE AND MUST NOT BE USED FOR NAVIGATION, ENGINEERING, SURVEYING, OR ANY SAFETY-CRITICAL PURPOSE. The Software is intended for creative and visual use only.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SKYLAB 5 CREATIVE STUDIOS, INC. AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES AND CONTRACTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, OR DATA, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE OR ITS OUTPUTS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY UNDER THIS AGREEMENT SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Skylab 5 Creative Studios, Inc. and its officers, directors, employees and contractors from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Software, your Outputs, or your violation of any third-party data provider's terms.
Skylab 5 may, but is not required to, provide updates. Updates are governed by this Agreement unless they come with their own terms.
This license terminates automatically if you breach it. On termination you must stop using and delete the Software. Sections 3 and 5 through 12 survive termination.
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States of America, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from this Agreement shall be brought in the state or federal courts located in the State of New York, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
This Agreement is the entire agreement between you and Skylab 5 regarding the Software and supersedes any prior understandings. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
